A self-contained house in Lower Thetsane: three bedrooms, a fitted kitchen, a sitting room, and a dining table that seats eight. White linen. The garden and braai sit behind the wall.
The rooms are named for the villages our parents come from — Ha Molapo, Ha Mafa, Ha Maama. The house is let as one place. Single rooms only when we release them.
Where my wife was born and raised, and where we were received when I asked for her hand. Two single beds, a shared bedside table, television on the wall.
Where my husband’s mother was born, raised by her older brother after she lost her parents. Double bed, lamps, a wall television, and a white cot for the smallest guest.
My husband’s origin, and the valley of our farm. Double bed and an en-suite bathroom. Honey and eggs from Ha Maama sit on your table, at no cost.
White cabinets, a sink under the window, oven and microwave stacked, pans already on the hob.
Dark wood chairs around the table. The kitchen stays in sight. A green settee holds the sitting corner.
White plates and glasses on the long table. The island and fridge sit a few steps behind the chairs.
A round table on the tiles, kettle and cup set out. Folding glass opens onto the yard and the ridge.
The pamphlet
Turn the pages as they were printed. Each leaf is a page from the house book — the villages, the farm, the garden, and the invitation to stay.

Mokhabebe is a private family residence in Lower Thetsane, one of Maseru’s calmest neighbourhoods, opened to families, business and leisure travellers who value safety, comfort and belonging.
This is not a hotel. We are a young family, well travelled, and we know the quiet relief of arriving somewhere new and finding a place that feels safe, familiar and kind. What we offer is one of our own homes, opened entirely to you. You are not a guest in a lobby. You are family in a home.
My husband’s origin, and the valley of our farm. Double bed and an en-suite bathroom. The valley holds our family farm: 63 hectares, fully off grid on a solar plant; more than 6,800 m² of shade nets and a greenhouse growing 450,000 or more seedlings each 30-day cycle; 200 beehives and free-range Cornish hens; a farm restaurant seating 600, a chapel and a farm-style wedding venue. Fresh honey and eggs from Ha Maama are on your table, at no cost.
Where my wife was born and raised, nurtured by her grandmother and her uncles and aunts. When I asked for her hand, my father, my uncle and I travelled there and were received so cordially. Two single beds, sharing the main bathroom.
Where my husband’s mother was born. She lost her parents young; her older brother took her in, raised her and schooled her until she married. Double bed and a cot. Three homes, one family, now opened to yours.
The garden is laden through the seasons. Mint, thyme, rosemary, basil, chives, peppers, chillies, radishes, peas, sweet corn in season, and fresh flowers are yours to pick at no charge.
Farming Forward is an invitation, never a charge. A guest gift of $13.40 is matched, gift for gift, and $26.80 goes into the soil. Harvest returns as vegetables and flowers during the stay. What the house does not need is given to orphanages nearby. Reports go up each quarter at mokhabebe.com.

Lesotho law governs these pages. Lesotho courts hear disputes we cannot settle directly, without cutting any right you keep under consumer law.
Stay and hire at your own risk so far as the law allows. Watch children. Do not leave a fire, heater or braai unattended. Walks off the property are not part of the booking.
